Here we go

Let's just skip the explanation of why it's been months without a post and just jump right into it.
I want to share some mini projects I've been slowly working on just to keep my creativity alive in between all my hours spent working. First, night stand transformation:

So this is the lovely Moroccan night stand my mother got me years ago. And although I love the hand-painted design, it goes with nothing in my room. So, ding ding ding, idea time. I've decided to experiment with colors and pattern by covering the stand in the wonderful japanese washi masking tape. Here's the start:

The lighting makes the colors blur together a bit, but you get the idea. I'm still decided how to go about the rest of the body but I'm sure if I just start it will come together. And the cool thing is since it's masking tape I can easily peel it right off whenever I want, to start over or just go back to the original. Magic!

Stay tuned, I guess?

Introducing Maria

Yes, it's true. The other "spoon"(and my wonderful best friend), Maria, will be joining the blog. Maria is currently living in Philly... temporarily folks, because of course she plans to be in NY as soon as possible. So, until that glorious day is here she will be posting from her less-wonderful city, but wonderful non-the-less. And what a treat this is for all (2/3/4) of you. It's going to be a wonderful time.

"New York I love you, but you're bringing me down."

My move to NY has not been the easiest. And although I love the song quoted above, I won't let it become a true statement in my life. I will make the life I want to live here in this city, though it may take longer than I'd like. So in between working, searching for a new job, my internship, looking for a second internship, and taking care of my dachshund, Tank, I will be posting on this blog. Sharing about the things I love and that inspire me. And, hopefully, sharing some funny stories in between.

Until next time
